The plan to link the Western Regional Highway of Egaleo (DPLA) with the Athens-Corinth National Road was presented by Infrastructure & Transport Minister Christos Staikouras and Deputy Minister responsible for Transportation Nikos Tachiaos at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday, ANA reports.
In addition to the DPLA link, the plan also includes scheduled interventions in the roundabouts of Skaramagas, Schisto, and the Shipyards.
Its purpose is to improve traffic in the area of Skaramagas, where delays during busy times throughout the week are well above acceptable levels. The project will also offer an alternative route for traveling from Attiki Odos to Piraeus and the southwest suburbs of the Athens metropolitan area, contributing to the decongestion of Kifissos Avenue.
Included as an option is a road link with the existing network of the Business Park in Fyli, 2.3 km long, which includes the upgrade of two junctions, with the landfill area (XYTA) and NATO Avenue. This would also help decongest Kifissos Avenue and Schistos Avenue.
