Hellenic Police said they checked a total of 21,609 individuals and 16,181 vehicles throughout Greece on Wednesday and brought in 733 people for questioning at police departments, ANA reports.
The majority of document-checking, detentions, and tickets issued were in West Attica (901, 9, and 88, respectively).
In the same context, Greek police also carried out checks in areas with high criminal activity in the prefectures of Achaia, Etolia, Akarnania, and Ilia, all in West Greece.
Furthermore, police checked businesses managing the processing and recycling of metal objects in the Ionian islands, the North Aegean islands, and the Peloponnese, especially in the municipalities of Corfu, Chios, and Laconia, respectively.
