A cooperation agreement in the field of civil protection between Greece and Portugal was signed by the Greek Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis, and Portugal’s Interior Minister, José Luís Carneiro, during the Greek minister’s visit to Lisbon, ANA reports.
Addressing the meeting, Stylianidis pointed out the connection between the climate crisis and civil protection and underlined that the new challenges created by the climate crisis require a response on a collective European level, not just a national level. “This is why generous funding is needed to further upgrade and strengthen the European Civil Protection Mechanism and rescEU,” he noted.
Stylianides, in a meeting with Carneiro, signed an agreement for the provision of mutual assistance and cooperation in the field of Civil Protection, while he held a separate meeting with the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič.
