An extraordinary meeting was organized at the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry chaired by Minister Vassilis Kikilias on Thursday, ahead of a weather warning by the National Meteorological Service (EMY), ANA reports.
Most areas in Greece will be affected from late Friday to midday on Sunday, with heavy rain and storms accompanied by hail and heavy lightning. The storm is expected to start from the northwest and gradually move east, as far as the northeast mainland, eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese. Wind velocity will be very high at seas.
Kikilias noted that the entire Civil Protection mechanism will be on alert. The meeting was attended by representatives of all security forces, public utility officials, and meteorologists, among others.
For more information, the public could check the sites https://www.astynomia.gr/ (Hellenic Police, for road accessibility or flooding), and https://civilprotection.gov.gr/ (Civil Protection General Secretariat, for information on the storm and protection measures), both in Greek.
